Meredith Strauss is a Licensed Social Worker who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and their families. Meredith believes that psychotherapy is a journey where the therapist and client walk together on a path toward discovery and healing. Her treatment is individualized based on client needs. She merges eastern and western traditional psychotherapy approaches to create an innovative, holistic approach toward healing.
Meredith works with clients who suffer from anxiety, depression, relationship issues and anger management. Her therapeutic approach helps clients to learn the skills to stay centered and calm in a tumultuous, stressful, and fast paced world. She helps clients to find appropriate solutions to problems and enhance interpersonal relationships. Therapeutic modalities include: family, group, interpersonal, mindfulness, behavioral modification therapies, and TF-CBT.
Meredith is currently in the process of being certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children. This treatment modality helps children who have been sexually or physically abused, have experienced grief, or have witnessed domestic violence.
In addition to private practice, Meredith works at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, in their Child and Adolescent Outpatient facility. She provides individual, family and group therapy for children ages 6-18, intake assessments, and case management. In addition, she works closely with prescribing physicians to monitor medication in med clinic groups. While at Trinitas, Meredith developed a Stress Management and Relaxation Therapy program for children (4-13) that combines yoga and psychotherapy for a holistic approach to managing stress.
Meredith is a certified yoga instructor, has experience working in the public school system, and has worked at two family therapy agencies in Essex County. She graduated from the MSW program at Rutgers University with high honors. She is licensed as a social worker (LSW), and anticipates receiving her LCSW license in March of 2014.
